Aero-Vibro-Acoustics Specialists - Seattle, Washington

Position Description:

CD-adapco is looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates to contribute to our software development team and who will report to the Chief Technology Officer. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the analysis of aero-acoustics as it relates to problems of vibro-acoustics. The candidate would be expected to introduce new capabilities within STAR-CCM+ for predicting the noise associated with low speed, separated flow around bluff bodies and the transmission of that noise to the interior of those bodies through structural components. The candidate would closely work with the testing team and CD-adapco customers to validate models using experimental results and to suggest new methodologies to improve performance and the accuracy of the CFD models, the transmission models, and the models for the modal vibration response of the structure. Knowledge of the fundamentals of structural-acoustics, including spectral and cross spectrum transformations and a working knowledge of using CFD codes and aero-vibro-acoustic codes is imperative.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Civil, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • At least 10 years experience in vibro-acoustics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • US citizenship or Green Card holder is preferred for ITAR and US government related projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team to meet project goals
  • Experience in noise transmission in the automobile industry

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Specific experience in vibro-acoustics codes such as VA ONE and ACTRAN.
  • Specific experience in SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis), FEA and BEM modal analysis
  • Experience with LES simulations of turbulent flow
  • Experience with C++
