Heat Transfer Specialist - Seattle, Washington

CD-adapco is looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates to contribute to our engineering services team and who will report to the Chief Technology Officer. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the analysis of fluid/solid heat transfer problems including conduction, forced and natural turbulent convection, radiant heat, chemical reactions, multiphase transfer, and latent heat transformation due to phase change. The candidate would be expected to work closely with the software development team to validate models using experimental results and to suggest new methodologies to improve performance and the accuracy of the CFD models. Knowledge of heat transfer fundamentals, including non-dimensional parameters, disparities in time and length scales and a working knowledge of using CFD codes is imperative.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Civil, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • At least 15 years experience in the application of multi-physics CFD in heat transfer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • US citizenship or Green Card holder is preferred for ITAR and US government related projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team to meet project goals
  • Experience in Heat Transfer for Batteries and Electric Motors

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Specific experience with STAR-CCM+ and/or STAR-CD
  • Experience with nucleate and film boiling in the Nuclear industry or in quenching applications
  • Experience in multi-phase heat transfer for Flow Assurance in the Oil and Gas Industry
