Twelve months ago, Red Cedar Technology and CD-adapco announced a partnership to expand multidisciplinary process automation and design exploration.  We had a clear vision for how to enable engineers to quickly discover better designs rather than spend the majority of their time on tedious model building and validation.

This vision comprised solutions for the following typical obstacles to broad-based design exploration:

  • Seamless Process Automation
  • Robust Parametric Solution
  • Simple & Efficient Optimization
  • Cost Effective Computation

After a full year of applying our combined solutions on customer problems ranging from aircraft design, electronic cooling, and underwater heat exchanger design, to electric motor design, the response has been tremendous.  Based on this strong feedback, we’ve decided to accelerate our plans by uniting into one company.  To that end, Red Cedar Technology has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of CD-adapco, effective June 30, 2013

Our objectives are three-fold:

  • Provide exceptional design exploration and optimization capabilities to current users of CD-adapco products,
  • Create an open multidisciplinary process automation and design exploration environment, based on HEEDS, that allows CD-adapco products to be seamlessly integrated with other CAD and CAE tools to address complex engineering design problems, and
  • Develop process automation and design exploration tools in a software development toolkit that can be licensed to third parties who want to integrate this leading technology in their applications.

The intention is to have Red Cedar Technology operate as a semi-independent entity focused on the above goals, but with additional financial resources and a larger focused sales and marketing team to accomplish these goals.  The entire Red Cedar team is motivated by this challenge.  We look forward to working with the entire CD-acapco family of employees and customers in the weeks and months ahead to effect rapid advancement in CAE design!
