This presentation will show the results of the overall migration from STAR-CD to STAR-CCM+ at the BMW Group during the years 2010-2011.
After exploring the challenges present the BMW product development procss, the presentation will give an overview of the usage of computational fluid dynamics by the different departments at BMW.
After that, the presentation will focus on the migration project. This will include the project objectives, the project timeline, the project structure as well as the collaboration between CD-adapco and BMW during the project.
The last part of the presentation will focus on the project results. This includes new STAR-CCM+ processes and methods that have been established during the project e.g new DMU 2.0, new consistent naming convention, java scripting for automatic case setup and grid generation, new overall modeling guidelines, standardized system architecture, cvs project repository, etc.
The presentation will end with a conclusion and an outlook.
