A Numerical Investigation of Thermal Conditions and Deformations of the Astronomical Roentgen Telescope

STAR CCM+ was used to perform a numerical investigation of thermal conditions and deformations of the Astronomical Roentgen Telescope. This  telescope is equiped with X-ray optical system. One of the major requirements for the telescope is to ensure restricted temperatures and minimal thermal deformations from solar radiation and heating effects of the spacecraft during orbital flight. During the development phase, a detailed computer simulation of the temperature conditions and the thermal deformations of the telescope parts in outer space was carried out using STAR-CCM+.
