CD-adapco Product News
Latest versions of STAR-CD V3.26 and STAR-CCM+ V1.08 released
CD-adapco is proud to announce the release of not one,
but two new versions of its industry leading CFD software. STAR-CD V3.26
includes a raft of new physical models and significant enhancements aimed
at streamlining the process of CAD import and repair.
STAR-CCM+ V1.08 includes enhancements to the accuracy and speed of the solver.
STAR-CD V3.26
STAR-CD V3.26 is the latest version of the world's most powerful CFD software.
pro-STAR now includes a suite of extra tools aimed at streamlining the process of CAD import and repair, traditionally the largest bottleneck in the flow simulation VPD process.
pro-STAR's surface preparation module now allows the import of triangulated surfaces in the STL format in addition to the NURBS based IGES and STEP format. Additional readers are also available that allow the import of CATIA V5 models (R11 to R14 model files, CATProduct files, CGR files up to R13), and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2 files. Surface mesh generation is now approximately twice as fast as in the previous version.
Most importantly pro-STAR now includes an all-new surface wrapper, that for the first time guarantees a closed manifold surface at every wrap. Surface wrapping significantly reduces the amount of expensive manual CAD-repair required in a robust CFD process. By cutting the time from CAD to flow simulation, surface wrapping guarantees a faster, more efficient analysis process. Used properly, surface wrapping can help to reduce the length of the design cycle and ultimately result in a faster time to market.
Walter Bauer of Daimler Chrysler is quick to endorse this technology: "CD-adapco's surface wrapping feature is the most automatic approach that exists. It has saved us weeks of clean up when carrying out our airflow studies and provides us with significant time and cost savings".
STAR-CD V3.26 also now includes FASTRAC, an improved method of modeling surface to surface radiation problems. FASTRAC uses a much faster algorithm than the previous view factor calculation method with much smaller memory overheads. Participating media radiation is enhanced to include particle radiation. The ECFM model is enhanced by the addition of a double-delay auto ignition model, a beta version of the ATKIM spark ignition model and an extended soot model (also in beta form). The release also includes es-ice V1.06 which includes an option for user defined arbitrary piston motion and complete boundary layer mesh for trimmed models.
STAR-CD V3.26 is currently available for all supported UNIX platforms from our user service site https://support.cd-adapco.com. A Windows port will be distributed on CD within the next few weeks.
For further information download the STAR-CD V3.26 documentation and installation guide from the user services site.
STAR-CCM+ V1.08
The latest version of STAR-CCM+, CD-adapco's next-generation CFD tool, utilizes the very latest compiler enhancements, resulting in up to a 20% speedup for Linux 64bit users. Other enhancements include improvements to STAR-CCM+’s already superior visualization functionality, support of new hardware configurations and supercomputer Message Passing Interfaces (MPIs).
STAR-CCM+ V1.08 is the recommended upgrade for all 1.06 users. If you haven't experienced STAR-CCM+ yet, 1.08’s release is the perfect opportunity to find out what you're missing.
STAR-CCM+ V1.08 is available on all supported platforms. Download it now, plus further information, product documentation and an installation guide from our user service site https://support.cd-adapco.com. Access requires a username and password that can be obtained from your Account Manager.
