Event Workshops

CEUPDH

In addition to the Forum the event will host training courses. Classes are $100 to attend and CEU/PDH (Continuing Education and Professional Development Hours) Certificates will be provided to all attendees.

Advanced CFD Training with STAR-CCM+, three classes to choose from, specify at registration (4 CEU/PDH Available):

Advanced Class A (4 Hours) - Introduction to Battery Modeling for Vehicles
In this class, attendees with a background in using numerical methods for thermal analysis will become familiar with some of the engineering analysis aspects of battery modeling. The class will consist of an introductory lecture by Dr. Richard Johns in conjunction with Robert Spotnitz, followed by a hands-on session examining the use of STAR-CCM+ in modeling battery installation for effective thermal cooling". Users will need to have a knowledge of STAR-CCM+ in order to participate in this class.

Advanced Class B (4 Hours) - Vehicle Underhood Thermal Management
The material for this class is a subset of tutorials taken from the full Vehicle Underhood Thermal Management class and introduces attendees to the fundamentals of this type of analysis. Trainees should possess an understanding of STAR-CCM+ before taking the class in which the following topics will be introduced: Fan and Heat Exchanger Modeling, Radiation fundamentals, Thermal Component temperature prediction
with a Simplified Underbody Tutorial.

Advanced Class C (5 Hours) - Advanced Topics in STAR-CCM+
This class covers miscellaneous advanced topics that users, who are familiar with the fundamentals of STAR-CCM+, would find useful to gain knowledge of. The lecture and hands on sessions will cover such topics as Multi-Region meshing, CAD preparation, Rotating Machinery Analysis, Advanced Post-Processing and an Introduction to JAVA scripting.

Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics Using STAR-CCM+ (4 CEU/PDH Available):

This event is designed to introduce individuals, who are maybe new to CFD or CD-adapco software, to the benefits of using the STAR-CCM+ toolset in their design process. Through tutorials, trainers will demonstrate the complete analysis process starting with the import of CAD geometries, preparation of models (surface wrapping), meshing principles, physics set-up, through to post-processing examples for results visualization.

Attendees will get the opportunity to set up a basic problem and explore different methods of applying computational fluid dynamics to their work. Class mentoring will prepare attendees to have a basic understanding of using the STAR-CCM+ application to address common engineering challenges with-in their own work environment. All participants will be eligible ($1,800 Value).
