CD-adapco Affirms Leadership in High-Performance CFD with Broad Representation at Supercomputing 2005

New York and London, November 9, 2005

CD-adapco will be well-represented at Supercomputing 2005, November 12-18, at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, WA. Bill Gates will be delivering the keynote, as thousands of visitors descend upon Seattle to learn firsthand the newest technologies and applications available in high performance computing (HPC). Having been on the leading edge of HPC for CFD for over 10 years, it makes perfect sense for CD-adapco to have a broad presence at this conference.

“Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has already made a significant impact in industry in allowing product development engineers to simulate the flow, thermal, and chemical response of the products and processes which they develop and thus dramatically reduce the number of expensive and time-consuming physical prototype build-and-test cycles”, says Dennis Nagy, CD-adapco’s Vice President, Marketing and Business Development. “CFD is poised to make an even more significant strategic business impact by allowing development engineers to do ‘up-front’ what-if studies and optimization of key components and systems. CFD is very computationally intensive but scales very well on HPC clusters (e.g., over 200x speed-up on 250-processor clusters). As clusters become more standardized and come down in price, and as CFD methods get significantly faster (e.g., via CD-adapco's introduction of breakthrough polyhedral meshing/solving technology), the execution speed of meaningful simulations is now within the timeframe needed by product developers to gain meaningful insight into innovative ‘outside-the-box’ new product concepts that previously were too risky to lock in as their chosen new product designs.”
