CD-adapco Joins CPDA’s Design/Simulation Council.
London and New York, March 8, 2006.
Industry Consortium of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Technology Providers Promotes CAE Process/Workflow Focus, Interoperability and Open Standards for Product Development Data Creation and Management.
CD-adapco, the leading global provider of Full-Spectrum flow and thermal simulation software and services, today announced that it has joined the Design/Simulation Council. The Design/Simulation Council is a consortium of manufacturers, suppliers and technology providers focused on improving interoperability and creating open standards within product development and simulation (CAE) technology.
Collaborative Product Development Associates (CPDA), an industry analyst organization that provides in-depth, collaborative research serving the design, engineering, and manufacturing markets, with specific expertise in product lifecycle management (PLM) technologies and processes, hosts the Council.
The aim is to promote a standard framework employing
common terminology to integrate and optimize the diverse
and divergent specialist activities currently fragmenting
design efforts. This framework will allow companies
to compare their processes with those of other companies,
accelerate their strategic planning and better evaluate
technologies for investment. Current participants and
contributors of the Council include Airbus, General
Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Lockheed Martin, Whirlpool,
Hitachi, Ltd., Amcor PET Packaging, NASA Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, TRW Automotive, Delphi Automotive Systems,
Procter & Gamble, Sandia National Laboratories,
Aerospace Corporation and current sponsors of the Council
include technology companies such as MSC, UGS, CoMet
Solutions, Engineous Software, and Altair Engineering.
"CD-adapco is wholly committed to being a leader
in simulation technology business effectiveness within
the bigger PLM picture and our customers have been
very clear about wanting to work with us to automate
and streamline their virtual product development process
and architectures," said Steve MacDonald, co-founder
and President of CD-adapco. "We are very excited
to become part of the Design/Simulation Council and
look forward to working with our customers and other
industry leaders as we look for innovative ways to
make our technologies more interoperable and strategic
to our industry partners’ bottom lines."
"We are especially pleased to have CD-adapco,
as the first vendor member focused on flow and thermal
simulation solutions, join the council," said
Don Brown, Chairman of CPDA. "CD-adapco's leadership
in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), especially with
its broad spectrum of customer-optimized solutions,
as well as its deep expertise in advanced product functional
simulation processes, will be a great asset to the
council as we work on continuously broadening our open
framework methodology and pilot projects."
CD-adapco is pleased to start the relationship with the council on a strong note by presenting at CPDA's March 15, one-day event exploring the latest thinking on the critical issues facing the integration of simulation with design, and then appearing on the panel at the related Georgia Tech "Frontiers in Design & Simulation Research 2006” Workshop the following day.
