| A Successful European User Conference April 1, 2004 Thank-you to all of our clients who attended the 2004 European STAR-CD User Conference held in London, which was nothing short of a great success. Some 250 attendees enjoyed a mix of presentations from CD-adapco employees and success stories from clients. The meeting commenced with an opening speech by CD-adapco’s president Steve MacDonald announcing the latest release of STAR-CD and new comtinuum mechanics codes. This was followed by a keynote speech by Albrecht Pfaff, Vice President of Strategic Development, MSC Software describing how virtual product development has become integral to industrial design. Presentations by employees described strategy and latest developments in products and services, including the exciting launch of STAR-CCM+, possibly the first CFD code to be genuinely, self-evidently easy to use. Over the course of the two days our clients gave over thirty presentations. Whether they had overcome obstacles, broke through technical barriers, contributed to the success of a project or dreamed up an innovative application, they told an interested audience just how they did it. An exhibition by more than fifteen hardware and software partners engaged attention during the lunch and tea breaks. An acknowledgement of thanks goes to HP, IBM and Fujitsu Systems Europe for their sponsorship of the meeting. The exhibition also featured demonstration points where groups of interested engineers gathered for demonstrations of STAR-CD, STAR-CCM+, Comet, Expert System tools and our new CAD-integration options. One of the highlights was a casino during the evening reception. The lucky winner won an amazing £237, 940 (monopoly money) and was rewarded with a PDA from Fujitsu Systems Europe. Following dinner, which included entertainment from a magician and caricaturist, many attendees also danced the night away at the disco.
