CD-adapco, the largest privately held CFD focused provider of Computer Aided Engineering software, recently held a conference focused on the application of Computational fluid dynamics for the Chemical Processing and Oil and Gas industries featuring presentations from The Dow Chemical Company, Shell, Norton Straw, Eastman Chemical, MSI Kenny, University of Houston, PNNL, and ExxonMobil.
The keynote address at this Houston-based conference was delivered by Dr. Christopher Jian, Senior R & D Leader of the Fluid Mechanics & Mixing and Solids Processing Disciplines at The Dow Chemical Company. Speaking on the “Pursuit of Integrated Capabilities in Chemical Engineering and Innovation,” Dr. Jian said, “In the world of chemical engineering and technologies, accelerated discoveries and innovative products and processes are taking place each and every day. Advanced materials ranging from consumer electronics, home and personal care, to agricultural products are being developed by engineers and scientists across the globe to enhance our lives and make the planet a better and sustainable world to live."
Dr. Jian presented the approach taken at Dow Chemical Company in developing integrated capabilities that is required to deliver their innovative solutions, explaining that, “Experimental fluid dynamics, Computational fluid dynamics, and plain fundamental engineering analysis form the three pillars of our vision.”
