STAR-CCM+ has the tools to make engineering data shine
The ability to successfully run a simulation requires that the tools to effectively analyze and communicate the results are available to the user. STAR-CCM+ is specifically designed to allow meaningful engineering results to be extracted and analyzed.

  • At the heart of STAR-CCM+’s post-processing toolset is the ability to extract and analyze engineering data. Here, an harmonic balance (HB) simulation was performed on a multistage axial compressor and the relative Mach mumber on the blades was displayed.
  • STAR-CCM+ has an extensive range of visual analysis tools to help deliver insight from the results. Here for example, post-processing tools were used to help visualize the ground effect and the complex vortex flow around the body of a high speed TGV train.

Dynamic data

The simulation may be monitored at every stage of the solution evolution with results dynamically updated. As the simulation runs and the solution develops, data may be continuously interrogated and solver settings changed on the fly. This means that users are always in control, ensuring result accuracy and efficient computer resource usage.

Effective analysis and communication

STAR-CCM+ has an extensive range of visual analysis tools to help deliver insight from the results. The easy-to-use, integrated nature of STAR-CCM+ allows you to quickly and effortlessly study flow, thermal, electrical and stress fields and evaluate designs accordingly. The free 3D viewer, STAR-View+, can be used to share information throughout a wider organization and may be embedded in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Numerical analysis

At the heart of STAR-CCM+’s post-processing toolset is the ability to extract and analyze engineering data. Reports are designed to return instantaneous numerical data including forces, coefficients, statistics and a range of application-specific uses. Monitors allow dynamic solution reporting through statistical interrogation of the results field. Finally an extensive set of visualization, graphing, tabulation and data manipulation tools are available to ensure that every result is presented in an easy-to-access manner, including vectors, streamlines and constrained streamlines (oil flow), iso-surfaces and contours, plain and arbitrary sections, animations, 2D & 3D plots, composite displays.
