This allows you to harness the power of STAR-CCM+ for applications such as optimization, where analyses typically require a large number of simulations to be run concurrently, and to utilize the speed of modern processors which increase by virtue of the number of multicore processors rather than the clock speed, without being penalised by requiring additional software licenses.

STAR-CCM+ is available with the following license options:

  • The revolutionary Power-Session license allows STAR-CCM+ to be run on an unlimited number of cores for a fixed cost.
  • Power-On-Demand is your gateway to fully flexible computing with usage counted by the hour and not by the process or core, meaning that extra licensing capacity is available at times of high demand or when cloud computing is chosen.
  • Power Tokens: When using Optimate, users have a certain number of Power Tokens, which are used during the simulation run. It counts as a session of STAR-CCM+ or STAR-HPC. Each token represents a process job on a CPU. The Power Tokens can be split between jobs or concentrated in one job, as the user sees fit. For example, if a user has 100 Power Tokens, he could conceivably do one concurrent job on 100 CPUs, 10 concurrent jobs on 10 CPUs each, or 100 concurrent jobs on one CPU each. The Tokens are reusable, so once a job is completed, the user can run other jobs again. The goal of Licensing is to allow a user to run many concurrent jobs from the same parent .sim file.
