Unlock the full power of STAR-CCM+ from within the CAD and PLM environment
STAR-CCM+’s CAD clients offer the chance to leverage advanced capabilities from within your familiar CAD and PLM environment. With full associativity, boundary setup and both polyhedral and trimmed cell meshing, CAD clients allow analysis to be easily integrated into your engineering design and optimization process. For those wishing to grow the usage and sophistication of their simulation capability, STAR-CCM+ in combination with its CAD clients offer the ideal solution. The STAR-CCM+ CAD clients are currently available for CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, PTC/Creo, and SIEMENS NX.
A flexible choice of import formats
Analysts may have little choice in how they receive their geometries and so STAR-CCM+ provides a complete choice of CAD and PLM import formats. Native, neutral and transmit formats may be used, for direct reading: SolidWorks, CATIA V4 & V5, Pro/E, NX, Inventor as well as PLM XML, JT Open, IGES, STEP, STL, and Parasolid.
Organized data structure for assemblies
Regardless of the complexity of assemblies, when geometries are read into STAR-CCM+, the full assembly structure along with body and surface naming conventions are preserved without the need for time consuming re-organization. Mesh, physics and boundary settings remain associated with the original CAD and so parts and assemblies may be easily swapped in and out to perform what-if studies.
Parametric 3D-CAD within STAR-CCM+
A powerful and fully parametric 3D feature-based modeler comes standard with STAR-CCM+. Users have the ability to build geometries from scratch, import geometries and edit accordingly. 3D-CAD in STAR-CCM+ is designed around the needs of engineering analysis, bridging the gap between CAD and CAE providing: automatic external and internal flow domain extraction, imprinting operations and the ability to expose geometric parameters to effortlessly perform design optimization based on engineering results.
