Including officially supported versions thereafter within the V4.10+ range.
Last Updated: March 30th , 2010

  • Medium Cases
    • DES Aeroacoustics
    • IC Engine
    • ICE (Motored PFI Engine)
    • ICE & Combustion
  • Large Cases
    • A-Class
    • C-Class

OVERVIEW

Presented are a suite of benchmark cases, selected to be industry representative, and typical of cases used by our User Community, and selected to demonstrate the relative performance on different hardware platforms and different processor configurations. The cases have been ordered in small ( <1 million cells) , medium (1-5 millions cells) and large cases (>6 million cells).

RUNNING CRITERIA

  • The standard release version of STAR-CD V4.XX and officially supported versions, must be used by the vendor.
  • Optimized versions may be used, but only if this has also been released to the user.
  • The vendor must use the supplied input files as is, modification of any input file is not permitted.
  • These datasets are supplied to vendors under a confidentiality agreement. The vendors may not pass these datasets to any other parties.
  • Any environment variables used must be reported. A date/time stamp must be used before and after each run, elapsed time in seconds will only be used and reported.
  • Vendors must report: type of machine, clock rate, amount of memory, OS version, etc and other parameters to identify the hardware configuration. A script named "detect" will be provided to supply this information.
  • Vendors may run in either 32 or 64 bit arithmetic precision, as long as it is reported and the run executes in a normal manner.

REPORTING FORMAT

  • The report is in alphabetical order of vendor name, separated by machine type.
  • The report contains Detailed System Information, Number of cores, the number of cores used for execution of this run. Values range from 1 - "N". and the number of cores used per processor. The report also contains a Performance Metrics table that shows Scale Factors and Core Usage.
  • Reported times will be in elapsed seconds.

DISCLAIMER

The data reported here has been supplied by the vendors of the respective hardware platforms listed, and though checked by the CD adapco Group, we can make no warranties, implied or otherwise, with regard to the accuracy of the data. In addition the CD adapco Group makes no recommendations as to the suitability or preference of one hardware platform over another with regards to STAR-CD or any other CD adapco product.
