Consultancy has been a key part of CD-adapco for over 30 years and is integral to providing our customers with the very best quality software and services. Not just a small offshoot of the company, the engineering services organisation is at the very heart of our business providing over 20% of our revenue as well as helping drive software development centred around the needs of our customers. Whether you need an additional resource, be it computational or a trained engineer on site, or need help developing a new processes and capabilities CD-adapco has the experience of thousands of successful projects to help you meet your goals.
Consulting services are a vital part of our business and whatever your problem we will help you reach a solution. Our CFD Consulting Group provides flow and thermal analyses using our range of computational fluid dynamics tools and methods. For solving problems associated with combustion and chemically reacting flow systems, we have a specialized consulting group. Our FEA Consulting Group provides thermal, structural, and dynamic analyses using finite element analysis methods.
Our expert human resource
We benefit from a highly qualified workforce. Our engineers providing analysis and design support have advanced engineering degrees and an average of eight years of advanced analysis experience.
Our experience
Over the last fifteen years, our consulting services groups have completed thousands of projects for hundreds of clients covering a staggering diversity of applications. The nature of the projects we are involved with ranges from providing our clients with additional resources during periods of peak need to new application method development, validation and training.
Our computer resource
We have always understood that good analytic solutions are only valuable if provided in timely fashion. Accordingly our consulting groups are equipped with extensive state-of-the-art computer resources. This allows us to respond quickly when your problems are urgent.
Our quality assurance
Our engineering services are also included in the scope of our ISO 9001 certification, which is not typical of major software vendors. Our written procedures include those that address the handling of proprietary data, the review of objectives and methods at the start of the project, the review of results, the creation and transmittal of reports, and the archiving of project data.
Typical project life cycle
We will work with you to understand your problems and then assess how we can help you along the process of achieving your objectives. Our focus will be on your needs and available resources. We treat our clients as partners and will therefore involve you in all aspects of your project. By working so closely with you and developing relationships, we will also transfer our technology and know-how to you.

Can you consult effectively off-site?
Yes, we have a proven record of successful consulting in this way. One of our major clients recently observed that there are more full time analysts in his new vehicle development group sitting at our offices in New York than sitting at his offices in Germany. The world is a much smaller place via email, web conference, and teleconference. You see this in companies all over. We try very hard to create a “we are down the hall” relationship when we work off-site. We offer on-site consulting as well, when appropriate. We have the right staff, in terms of education and experience, to be successful in helping you, regardless of where they are sitting.
Can I send someone to train during the project? / Can you come here?
Of course! We love it when folks come to visit. You can come and sit with us for the whole project if your travel budget allows. We recognize that Technology Transfer is an essential part of our work. We will be involved closely with your engineers throughout the project, transfer all the files, and come to you to explain how to continue the work yourself.
How do we exchange data? / How about security in sending data? / What format?
We have a secure “blind” FTP site and will use your choice of encryption software if you desire. We can exchange surface data in IGES, VDA, STL, but increasingly can read your native CAD files with our surface translator and repair program.
What are your rates?
We have hourly rates, but due to the high and sometimes unknown computer costs associated with three dimensional CFD and FEA, almost all our jobs are also offered on a fixed price basis. In response to your written workscope, we will provide fixed prices and schedule, so you know exactly what to expect.
Have you validated all this against test data?
Nearly every project we do has some element of validation involved. Some of the analyses we have done have been validated extensively against test data and published. However, the majority of major validation has been as paid projects with clients using their experimental data and that data is proprietary. We will supply you with whatever we have, but for very specific applications, we cannot share specifics with you unless our clients have published the benchmarks themselves.
