CD-adapco CFD Training Courses

E2P

Course Duration: 2 Days
Course Schedule: 6 Monthly

Who Should Attend

Any user new to the Eulerian two-phase flow models in the STAR-CD code. It is assumed that the user is already familiar with the basic operations of the STAR-CD code.

Course Aims

The course is aimed at giving users new to the Eulerian two-phase flow models in STAR-CD an understanding of the processes involved in setting up an Eulerian two-phase flow simulation and to provide background information of the models used.

Course Structure

The course structure is designed to take the User through the theory of multiphase flows, explain the different models required for modeling droplet, bubble and particle flows and to provide examples of different classes of two-phase flows.

Course Content

The contents of the course, based on the above aims and structure, are as follows:

1) Introduction : This section gives a general introduction to the Eulerian multiphase flow models, basic definition of multiphase flows, the transport equations, forces between the two phases, and boundary conditions.

2) Tutorial : This section takes the user through the setting up of a simple test case in which analytical solution is available for validation of the computed results.

3) Turbulence : This section provides the details of the multiphase turbulence model available in the software.

4) Droplet flows : This section gives the modeling details for droplet flows.

5) Particle flows : This section provides the modeling details for particle flows, including modeling of fluidized beds using the kinetic theory model for granular flows.

6) Bubbly flows : This section gives the modeling details for bubbly flows.

7) Heat transfer and boiling : This section provides modeling details for heat transfer between the two phases and mass transfer due to boiling.

8) Discussion : This section provides general discussion of the Eulerian two-phase models, tips and hinds in using the models.
