New user of GT-Power who is interested in modeling internal combustion engine including intake/exhaust noise.

Course Description

This 2 day course is designed for new users of GT-Power and GT-Suite who are interested in modeling internal combustion engines including intake/exhaust noise. Engine model construction and simulation will be focused on in this course through the use of GT-Power. Intake/Exhaust noise simulation will also be demonstrated. Participants will be able to use the software immediately.

Course Content

Day 1: Introduction - 1-D Flow Simulation

  • Discretization of 1-D Models
  • One Cylinder Engine Modeling: Defining components, Model setup, Parameter sweeps, Post-processing, Optimization
  • Multi Cylinder Engine Modeling: Model setup, Parameter sweeps, Post-processing
  • Modeling for Intake/Exhaust Noise, Subassemblies, Encryption of Subassemblies
Day 2: GT Power - Advanced Features
  • Muffler Transmission Loss, Insertion Loss, Noise Reduction
  • Advanced Features: Transient analysis, Wall temperature solver, RLT dependence, Suction flow, Building an Intake Manifold from CAD, Building a Muffler using GEM3D, Design of Experiments/Optimization
